The Coolies are a punk-influenced garage rock supergroup originally featuring Palmyra Delran
(The Friggs), Kim Shattuck (The Muffs, The Pandoras), and Melanie Vammen (The Pandoras,
The Muffs). The band was formed in 2019 as a tribute to their love of raw, energetic rock ‘n’ roll,
blending elements of punk, power pop, and garage rock.
Their debut release, Uh Oh! It’s…The Coolies, on Wicked Cool Records, was a six-song EP that
quickly gained attention for its catchy hooks, biting lyrics, and the undeniable chemistry
between its members. The project was especially significant as a charitable endeavor—proceeds
from the album were donated to the ALS Association in honor of Kim Shattuck, who was
battling the disease at the time. Sadly, Shattuck passed away in October 2019, making Uh Oh!
It’s…The Coolies her final recorded work.
And now – The Coolies are back with a riotous new single: “Bad Bad Boy”, just in time for
Little Steven’s Underground Garage Cruise.
On May 2nd the band will be unleashing their latest single, “Bad Bad Boy,” b/w “Over You”, a raw, high-energy
blast of fuzzed-out guitars and attitude. Featuring the unmistakable grit of Palmyra Delran
(Vocals, Guitar, Baritone Guitar), the sharp hooks of Melanie Vammen (Guitar, Vox Organ),
the deep, spectral presence of the late founding Coolies member, Kim Shattuck (Ghost Echo),
the driving basslines of Kathy Valentine, and the pounding rhythms of Clem Burke, this
all-star lineup delivers a track that’s as infectious as it is ferocious.
